Mrs Karen Oliver is a Corporate Communications Officer who is primarily responsibility for internal communications for the JN Group. She has been employed to the Jamaica National Building Society since 2001, where she also serves as a Respect Ambassador, assisting with culture transformation as the Building Society transitions into a commercial bank.
A consistent high performer, she received the inaugural Innovation Award from the Group Human Resource Development department at Jamaica National in 2014 for initiating and implementing a unique money management programme for employees. She was Employee of the Quarter in 2012 for Corporate Communications, and was again a nominee for the award in 2014.
Mrs. Oliver is a trained public speaker who achieved Distinguished Toastmaster designation in 2015, the highest designation in the Toastmasters International programme. She was named Toastmaster of the Year for the JN Toastmasters Club in 2012 and 2016. In addition, she created history in 2016 by achieving the most educational awards in Toastmasters District 81, which comprises 24 Caribbean territories. From 2014 to 2015, she served Toastmasters International as one of six Area Governors for Jamaica.
A Marketing graduate of the University of Technology, Jamaica, she also pursued a post- graduate diploma in Marketing with the Chartered Institute of Marketing based in the UK.
She is a member of the planning committee of the Governor-General’s Achievement Awards programme and coordinates a monthly reading programme at the Maxfield Park Primary school, as well as JNBS employee financial contributions to Sophy’s Place, a Mustard Seed childrens’ home. She enjoys speech writing, public speaking, sewing, gardening and watching documentaries.
